How to Play

Everything you need to know about weekly matches, deadlines, and league rules.

  1. Check the Week page to find your matchup and which player on the opposing team shares your seed.
  2. Contact your opponent to schedule your best-of-3 match for the week.
  3. Use your match detail page to set the scheduled date, time, and format (Online, Webcam, or In-Person).
  4. Deadline to submit your match schedule: Wednesday 11:59 PM Eastern.
Unresponsive opponent? If your opponent does not respond by the deadline, document your contact attempts and inform both captains. Provide evidence to a league admin. Your opponent earns a DQ loss (0-2) and you earn a DQ win (2-0). PR is not affected by DQ matches. Repeated DQs may result in suspension or removal from the league.
No shared availability? If you genuinely cannot find a time that works, one of you must find a substitute player before Tuesday's deadline.
Both players fail to schedule? If both players communicate but cannot schedule and do not find substitutes, both earn a no contest (0-0).
  • If you cannot play, find a substitute from the Free Agents list with equal or lower PR than you and submit a Substitution Request on your match detail page.
  • Deadline to submit a substitution request: Tuesday 11:59 PM Eastern.

After your match:

  • An admin will record the result on your match detail page.
  • Results update live on the Week page scoreboard.
  • If there is a discrepancy, contact your captain and your opponent's captain to resolve it before escalating to a league admin.

  • All players start at 500 PR.
  • PR changes after every match using an ELO-inspired formula based on score and the rating difference between players.
  • PR range: 100 – 600.
  • ΔPR = round(25 × (S − E))    E = 1 / (1 + 10−Δ/200)
  • Score values: 2-0 win = 1.0   2-1 win = 0.75   1-2 loss = 0.25   0-2 loss = 0.0
  • Winners never lose PR from a win — the delta is clamped to 0 if negative on a win.
  • Use the PR Calculator to estimate outcomes before a match.
  • Teams consist of exactly 5 players, each assigned a seed 1–5.
  • Seed 1 is the highest-rated player on the team; Seed 5 is the lowest.
  • Each week, Seed 1 faces the opposing team's Seed 1, Seed 2 faces Seed 2, and so on.
  • Team PR cap: 1850. The sum of all five rostered players' PR cannot exceed this.
  • Seeds are auto-ordered by PR descending and can be re-sorted by an admin at any time.
  • If you cannot play in a given week, submit a Substitution Request from your match detail page.
  • Substitute players must have equal or lower PR than the player being replaced.
  • Substitutes must be approved by an admin before the match is played.
  • If approved, PR changes from the match are applied to the substitute, not the original player.
Disqualifications: DQ'd players receive a 0-2 loss for PR purposes. The opposing player receives a 2-0 win. Neither player's PR is changed by a DQ match. Multiple DQs can result in suspension or expulsion.
  • All seed matches are best of 3 games (Pokemon TCG).
  • Supported formats: Online, Webcam, or In-Person.
  • Both players can record the Pokémon they used on the match detail page.
  • The team that wins more seed matches wins the weekly matchup.
  • Tiebreakers in team standings are determined by total seed match wins.
